GARRY SWAINE, TWOTWOFIVE ASIA
Former Head of Crude Trading for BP Singapore Supply and Trading Garry Swaine is confirmed as the main instructor of the course. Garry Swaine is currently the Managing Director of Two Two Five Asia.
Garry worked for over 30 years in Oil and Gas with BP. He began his career as a process engineer before moving into Supply and held a number of roles over a 12 year period focusing on commercial optimization of the Refining and Supply chains. Garry spent 11 years as the Head of Crude Trading for BP Singapore’s Supply and Trading business. He was accountable for all crude oil trading activities in a region spanning from the Middle East, South Asia, SE Asia, China and North Asia which included the commercial marketing of BP equity crudes and crude and feedstock optimization for BP’s regional refinery asset base. In 2012, Garry turned his attention towards leading the L&D activities for BP’s Supply and Trading business in Singapore, developing the business talent pool in both Technical and Leadership competencies. Garry was key member of BP’s Leadership team from 2002 to 2015.

RICHARD STRUB, PARTNER, HOLMAN FENWICK WILLAN
Richard is a Partner in the shipping department. He trained at HFW and qualified as an Associate in 2004. He was elected to the partnership in 2015. In 2016 Richard relocated to HFW’s Dubai office. Described as «likeable and easy to deal with» (Legal 500, 2015), Richard specializes in all areas of commercial, shipping and commodities litigation, with particular emphasis on charterparty, bill of lading and sale and purchase disputes. Richard regularly represents ship owners and operators, charterers, P&I Clubs and underwriters as well as cargo owners and traders in both Court and arbitration proceedings. Richard also benefits from secondments to the Charterers Club during 2008 and BP during 2011. Richard regularly lectures on shipping and trade issues and was the co-author of HFW’s quarterly case law update.

PATRICK MURPHY, PARTNER, CLYDE & CO
Patrick Murphy is a partner, based in the Dubai office, specialising in shipping and commodity trading disputes and general international commercial arbitration and litigation. Patrick has worked for Clyde & Co for more than 15 years. He has extensive experience of litigating and arbitrating in the UAE courts, Dubai arbitrations and international arbitrations under DIAC, LCIA, UNCITRAL, ICC and LMAA rules in respect of commercial agency, telecoms, oil and gas, commodities and investment disputes. More recently, Patrick spent three years working in Clyde & Co’s Marine and International Trade department in London advising a variety of charterer, commodity trader and owner clients, before relocating back to Dubai in November 2010. Patrick regularly advises shipowners, charterers and traders in a wide range of charterparty, sale of goods and commodity disputes. He is a regular presenter at events concerning shipping law, including lecturing on laytime and demurrage matters. He also advises international traders and businesses in respect of the application of sanctions regimes.

NIGEL HARRIS, KINGSTON ENERGY CONSULTING
Nigel’s first contribution to energy trading was in the design and development of decision support software for oil traders in the late 1980s. For over ten years, Nigel worked closely with traders, mainly in the USA, to bring analysis of market prices and fundamental data to their desktops, and to develop analysis for new instruments and new markets, such as options, swaps and natural gas. He subsequently worked as an independent consultant, providing assistance on a project basis to oil and gas trading companies and to energy market information and trading software providers in Europe and the Americas, before forming Kingston Energy Consulting with Mary Jackson in 2002, they run courses for traders together with Oxford Princeton. He has an MA and a PhD in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University.
